Forest Mushrooms, based in Cato Ridge, is one of KZNs largest mushroom producers. This family run business has opened up their hearts and doors to the less fortunate communities of KZN by partnering with Gift of the Givers to oversee the distribution of 4 tons of mushrooms over the next few weeks. We are immensely grateful to the gracious owner of Forest Mushrooms, Mr Rob Stewart and his sons, Steven and Mark, for their magnanimous donation during this very challenging time. This distribution would not have been possible in the absence of the partnership between Gift of the Givers and Forest Mushrooms. Thank you, Gift of the Givers for your handover of 125kg of mushrooms to We Care Mother Africa yesterday. We mobilized our NPO network in KZN and within the day, 125kg of mushrooms was distributed to communities in need.

We Care Mother Africa handed mushrooms to the following recipients:

1. Smile With Us Foundation, Frasers (Tongaaat) – provides over 150 orphaned and vulnerable children (beneficiaries) with a daily meal. Number of children often increased to approximately 200 because no child is turned away.
2. Enduduzweni Community Care Centre, Melville (KwaDukuza) – provides psycho-social support services to 150 beneficiaries comprising orphaned and vulnerable children, youth and families impacted by HIV and AIDS.
3. St Clements Home-Based Care, Clermont (eThekwini) – provides psycho-social support services to 2000 beneficiaries comprising orphaned and vulnerable children, youth and families impacted by HIV and AIDS.
4. The rural community of Inhlazuka-Mahlathini (Richmond) – an impoverished community with no NGO presence. We Care Mother Africa recently began working with the community, focusing on vulnerable women and children.

This is the power of collaboration!!!
