On 15th April, we shed some light on the community of Frasers (Tongaat) and the amazing team, lead by an angel, Mervin Veerasamy, who run a feeding scheme for 150 orphaned and vulnerable children, and also work tirelessly to support the multitude of impoverished families. Covid-19 is taking its toll on every sphere of society resulting in diminishing sponsorships for the feeding scheme. We Care Mother Africa shares with much joy, that we have ensured a 5-6 week supply of staples for the kitchen, made possible through another act of kindness by the team at Norsaf Marine.

Before the onset of the long weekend that passed, the kitchen received:
80kg super maize meal
50kg rice
30kg sugar
30kg dry beans
10kg yellow lentils (dhall)
80 tins canned pilchards
25Ltr oil
60Ltr milk
12 loaves of bread
Spices
10Ltr Oros juice – just because every child deserves a little treat
Thank you to the team at Norsaf Marine.

The kitchen also received 40kg of meat products from our generous benefactor, Singh’s Mutton Market. The children rarely have meat in their meals so this donation is not only a treat for them but it also adds to the nutritional value of their meals. Thank you to our dearest Ashika, Dhiraj & Neha.

No child is turned away from the kitchen, it doesn’t matter that they may not be on the beneficiary database. Families are struggling to feed their children. On #FreedomDay, a total of 183 children were fed.

If you would like to support the feeding scheme for our precious children, please contact us.
